COVID 19 HELP

COVID-19 - help available

Here is a list of useful sources of help and support available locally during these difficult times. We will continually providing updates on local and national information on our website and our facebook page.

We are concerned that there are a growing number of people in our communities who are self isolating in their homes, or will be, for a variety of reasons.
If you are self isolating please be assured that whist we are aware that many of those affected have a network of family, friends and neighbours to help or may already be receiving services from an appropriate charity or other agency, there are people who will need assistance.
This Parish Council is working with Worthen Medical Practice, Heather Kidd, Chirbury with Brompton and Westbury Parish Council and a team of volunteers to assist where we can.
The most important message is to Check On Your Neighbours – if you know of someone living close by that needs help, either offer to help if you can, or speak to one of the volunteers at the local Community Care Group.

ACTIVAGE is an EU-funded scheme led by Samsung. The project is being trialled in Shropshire in partnership with Shropshire Council, and aims to see how everyday technology such as smart watches, smart phones and sensors can be used or adapted to support the health and social care needs of vulnerable people. People over the age of 55 who live in Shropshire and have a broadband connection are invited to apply. Those who care for people who fit this criterion can also apply on behalf of the person they care for. Those involved will receive a technology package worth over £600 that can help support people to stay independent, safe and active for longer, especially if their carers or family aren’t close by. This includes a free Samsung watch and smartphone which will be posted to individuals. Also included in the tech package are home sensors but due to the COVID-19 crisis, these will be issued later as they require installation. There is no cost to take part in this initiative and what’s great is that you get to keep all the equipment when you complete the scheme. For more information or to express your interest, whether for yourself or on behalf of someone else, please check details on the  the ACTIVAGE website or contact [email protected]
